POSITION SUMMARY

The Revenue Cycle Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of patient billing and payment processing in accordance with established policies. This position is dedicated to minimizing bad debt, optimizing cash flow, and efficiently managing accounts receivables for EVRC, Envision Dallas, physician practices, and PRIDE. Working collaboratively with business unit managers, and under the direction of the Executive Director, the Revenue Cycle Coordinator coordinates revenue cycle activities organization-wide, encompassing front desk processes, billing, collections, financial counseling, and staff training.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Verify and input patient charges into the practice management software.
• Electronically submit claims for patient billing and grant funding allocation when applicable.
• Handle primary and secondary paper claims when electronic submission is not feasible.
• Oversee the entire "life of a claim" and coordinate benefits for patient accounts according to policy.
• Monitor coding practices to identify potential under coding or irregularities.
• Collaborate with the Director to evaluate, communicate, and provide training on revenue cycle activities.
• Coordinate with Directors and Managers to ensure coverage verification for scheduled patients.
• Address referrals and authorizations at the time of appointment scheduling.
• Process insurance claim remittance, denials, corrected claims, appeals, and adjudication as needed.
• Post insurance payments to patient accounts as directed by payer Explanation of Benefits.
• Provide weekly deposits to corporate accounting in collaboration with Directors and Managers.
• Generate patient statements on a monthly basis.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly balancing procedures.
• Establish and maintain a follow-up process for pending third-party coverage and aging reports.
• Ensure timely processing and correction of rejected claims.
• Maintain a regular schedule for writing off bad debts, documenting collection attempts.
• Document billing-related findings in patient financial history.
• Identify and contract with insurance companies and networks; process applications for provider numbers.
• Facilitate credentialing for doctors, clinical staff, and administrative certifications.
• Flexibility to undertake additional duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements:
Education:

• Associate degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or equivalent work experience (required)
• ICD-10 medical coding/Certified Coder certification (preferred)

Experience:

• 3 years of previous medical office billing experience (required)
• Experience in ophthalmology/optometry or rehabilitation office (preferred)
• Experience with disability populations (helpful)

Knowledge/Skills:

• Strong financial management knowledge and experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and relevant applications
• Ability to learn medical databases and electronic medical records
• Extensive knowledge of insurance billing and contracts (CMS/Medicare, Medicaid, major commercial payers)
• Familiarity with HIPAA confidentiality and privacy policies
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently, maintaining effective internal and external relationships.
