Summary:
We are currently looking for a Substation Engineer – Relay & Controls who will be responsible for performing engineering and technical support for transmission system projects involving protection and control design, and in implementing cyber security solutions for intelligent electronic devices.
Total Rewards:
A typical starting range for this position is $89,000 - $129,000 + annually. Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Performing engineering on substation projects to ensure safe, reliable, high-quality, cost-efficient designs.
· Designing, managing and implementing solutions to ensure compliance with NERC reliability standards for physical and cyber security.
· Providing technical support to other GRE engineers, field technicians, operators, and others to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the GRE transmission system.
· Leading and participating on cross-functional teams responsible to develop and update internal GRE design standards and equipment specifications to ensure consistent, high-quality designs.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree (or advanced) in electrical engineering or computer engineering required OR education required to qualify for the written Professional Engineering Examination as required by the State Board of Engineering, AND
· 2-6+ years of experience in an engineering position within the utility or related industry.
· Minimum of 5+ years of engineering experience with relay settings, relay and control drawings, and NERC/CIP compliance program management is strongly preferred.
· FE and PE strongly preferred. PE required at higher level.
· Knowledge of engineering/science principles and safety.
· Verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work within a team environment.
· Project management skills.
· Demonstrated experience in utilizing problem solving skills to address technical and non-technical issues.
