Title: Seasonal Tax Preparer

Department: Tax

Location: Norfolk, VA (On-Site, Hybrid, or Remote)

Position Summary: TheSeasonal Tax Preparer will work with Tax Supervisors and Managers in preparation of individual tax returns (Form 1040) from January through April. This is an hourly position with flexible scheduling, part-time or full-time hours, and the ability to work remotely.

Position Duties:

• Prepare assigned individual federal and state income tax returns
• Research treatment of certain tax transactions, as necessary
• Demonstrate knowledge of basic technical tax requirements
• Understand the tax reporting issues including guaranteed payments, self-employment tax and flow through reporting of partnership income
• Ensure confidentiality of each client by following all company procedures regarding information handling
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Approximately 3+ years relevant work experience required
• CPA Certification preferred
• Previous tax experience in public accounting firm
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proactive and detail-oriented with ability to follow Firm’s standard practices
• Ability to work independently
