Job Summary

Reporting to the Dean of Student Holistic Health, the Director of Wellness and Recreation is responsible for the leadership of wellness, recreation, intramurals, club sports, and rec facilities at Georgia Gwinnett College. Serving on the Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT), this position will champion a diverse array of programs, services, and operations which focus on the holistic health and wellness and active engagement of all GGC students. 

Responsibilities

Function 1 - 

Direct all wellness and recreation functions as the lead campus recreation officer for a dynamic array of campus wellness and recreation programs, services, facilities, and operations. 

Function 2 - 

Provide leadership, supervision, training, direction, evaluation and support to all professional and paraprofessional personnel within Wellness and Recreation. 

Function 3 - 

Develop and ensure the enforcement of facility usage, safety, and security policies maintaining a positive, safe, and inclusive environment in all programs, services, and facilities. 

Function 4 - 

Lead and expand the number and type of recreation, intramurals, club sports, and outdoor adventure services and programs offered to students. 

Function 5 - 

Lead (in collaboration with the Associate Provost for Student Affairs) the planning and implementation of new facility construction and renovation projects. 

Function 6 - 

Supervise Wellness and Recreation budgets including the development, monitoring, forecasting, and short- and long-term budget planning of all departmental funds (e.g., student fees, state funds, user fees, etc.).

Function 7 - 

Lead departmental strategic planning, goal setting, priority completion, evaluation and assessment, and data-driven decision-making. 

Function 8 - 

Maintain collaborative relationships with campus partners and external stakeholders, including faculty, academic departments, student affairs, auxiliary, business and finance, facilities, operations, legal affairs, human resources, information technology, alumni, communications, and off campus vendors.

Function 9 - 

Maintain a high-level awareness of national trends and concerns in higher education, wellness and recreation, student affairs, and student needs to develop effective strategies to keep the department at a progressive state relative to trends and industry peers.

Function 10 - 

Perform other duties as assigned by Dean of Student Holistic Health and/or Associate Provost for Student Affairs.

Required Qualifications

4 Year / Bachelor's Degree

8+ years relevant experience in campus Wellness and Recreation.

5+ years supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated history of working in a wellness programming and/or a wellness center setting.

Demonstrated record of successful leadership and supervision in wellness and recreation programs and services. 

Demonstrated record of senior management of recreation facilities and operating budgets. 

Knowledge of NIRSA ¿best practices" for recreation and intramurals.
