Full Salary Range: Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full hourly range for this position is $28.64 to $49.41/hr. The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $29.32 to $30.76/hr.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:
The Classroom Technology Specialist manages and operates complex multimedia set ups in support of UCSB classroom instruction, campus supported conferences, and public events. Provides technical support for multimedia systems, including computers, computer networks, data projectors, switching, control and communication systems, student response systems, audio/video playback, and recording and broadcast systems. Works closely with Faculty, and Staff from other departments to ensure successful implementation of instructional technology in the classroom. Under supervision, and in close coordination with other ID technical staff, participates in and supervises elements of the design, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of multimedia systems in classrooms and meeting spaces at UCSB. Develops organizational systems to streamline operations.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
70% Computer Technical Support - In coordination with other Technology Support Specialists, administers the deployment, operation, and maintenance of over 180 domain-joined classroom computers at UCSB. Manages and monitors departmental Active Directory Domain service, including Users, Computers, and Group Policy objects. Works closely with the Educational Support Specialist to maintain the classroom technologies, educational support applications, and an up-to-date knowledge base. Works closely with the Systems and Network Administrator to identify and resolve network-based computer issues in the classrooms as well as maintain accurate DHCP & DNS records. Coordinates with the Assistant Classroom Services Manager on the supervision of up to 20 student employees who provide multimedia and computer support services to the UCSB Instructional and Event based community. In coordination with other Classroom Services staff members, monitors, updates, and resolves computer related support tickets submitted by campus users. Under the supervision of the Assistant Classroom Services Manager, installs, maintains, and repairs computer hardware, software, and peripherals for all Classroom Services venues. Provides instructional computing support in virtual and classroom environments. Periodically verifies new and existing equipment functionality and compatibility with legacy devices. Under direction of the Assistant Classroom Services Manager, performs and oversees routine computer system maintenance, including updating computer operating systems and application programs, ensuring device security and stability. Provides computer support for instructional related activities, classroom instruction, conferences, and public events. Occasionally assists in scheduling classroom equipment deliveries and allocation of technical assistants to support classrooms, conferences, and public events.
15% Instructional Technology Consultation - Consults with instructors, staff, and students with regard to classroom related IT requests, network connectivity, and basic a/v troubleshooting in the classroom. With feedback from Assistant Classroom Services Manager, creates instructional materials specific to computer, network, a/v, and lectern control system operations. Interfaces with technical support staff and network administrators across campus departments to ensure stable network connectivity and data projection in departmentally controlled classrooms, seminar rooms, and event facilities.
15% Administration/Other - Occasionally assists with hiring student technicians in coordination with Assistant Classroom Services Manager. Coordinates with Assistant Classroom Services Manager to provide classroom and computer support training for new student employees. Organizes, develops, and coordinates technical training sessions for students and other staff on specialized computer hardware and software. Assists faculty, staff, and students with special classroom support needs.
