Job description

BALTIMORE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL

JOB TITLE : Specialist, Science PreK-12

REPORTS TO : Coordinator(s), Elementary and Secondary Science

DEFINITION : Provide expertise, service, and support in science teaching and learning with a focus on instructional planning, instructional delivery, safety/chemical hygiene, as well as measuring and analyzing student outcomes. Work closely with classroom teachers and school-based teacher leaders to effectively implement instruction aligned with curricular materials and the Maryland College and Career Standards. Collaborate with instructional leadership teams to monitor and evaluate formative and summative data and make instructional recommendations. Facilitate ongoing, job-embedded professional learning and in-classroom coaching on the use of evidence-based instructional practices and responsive instruction. In addition, the specialist will be called upon to provide direct instruction to students in programming provided by the office. This will include outdoor as well as in-school programs. Perform other duties as assigned.

The work of this class is interactive and performed primarily in a school environment. Work hours will include after school and evenings. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional strenuous physical activities related to field-based and in-school science programming and initiatives.

SALARY: Grade 8 on the BCPS CASE 12-month pay scale $88,843-$132,017.

This position is eligible for membership in the Maryland State Retirement System.
