This internship program will begin Monday June 3rd and will end Friday, August 9 th . The pay is $16-$17 an hour and the position is expected to be full-time over those 10 weeks. This will be a hybrid internship with mandatory in person sessions that are part of the program once a week.

The Emerging Professionals Summer Internship Program (EPSIP) is a paid internship experience for talented college students. General Summary of Position
Problem:
Research labs can generate significant amounts of data and much of that data currently resides within our on-premise data center. A subset of research users/teams maintain a high utilization of on-premise resources. While on-premise data storage provides high availability and low latency, it is not highly scalable and requires investment in physical infrastructure. Scalability needs are estimated and based on current and future expected need. Some research teams use cases could prove to benefit from a more scalable data storage solution.
Project:
Collaborate with the Hosted Services and EITD teams to identify users or research teams with large storage use cases, focusing on teams with high utilization and at/near current capacity, of on-premise resources. Identify the candidates that would benefit from the flexibility of moving their data to cloud, with a focus on understanding access requirements, data classification and data lifecycle. Develop and document a cloud native data storage solution that provides ease of use and scalability, keeping in mind data security.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Intern should have:
1. Understanding of data storage, backup, and security
2. Understanding of file systems and file transfer protocols
3. Understanding of infrastructure as code
4. Familiarity with AWS
5. Experience creating and updating documentation
