Key Duties

• Providing immediate medical attention to critically ill or injured animals
• Examining, diagnosing, and treating animals with a variety of emergency medical conditions
• Performing emergency surgeries and other procedures, such as blood transfusions and wound management
• Maintaining and updating medical records, including patient history, diagnoses, treatments, and prognosis

Key Skills, Qualifications & Client Requirements

• A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school
• Board certification or eligibility for certification in emergency and critical care by a veterinary specialty organization
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and surgery
• Ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical emergencies, including trauma, respiratory distress, and shock
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to effectively communicate with pet owners, staff, and other veterinary professionals
