JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Dietitian performs nutrition assessments, patient education, medical record documentation and participates in quality management aspects of patient care. Other duties include teaching nutrition classes to patients and the public.
Job Specific: - Screens and assesses patients nutrition status. (EF)
- Documents findings in the medical record. (EF)
- Counsels and teaches patients needing help with nutrition issues. (EF)
- Participates in monitoring nutrition aspects of care as quality management. (EF)
- Teaches group nutrition classes to patients and to the community as preventive care. (EF)
Hospital: - Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
- Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital's Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
- Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital's Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
- Performs within his/her professional Scope of Practice at all times.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Required: Bachelor's degree in nutrition from an accredited university; completion of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Internship with successful completion of requirements for dietetic registration.
EXPERIENCE Required: Supervised experience working with various patient nutrition issues during internship.
Preferred: Some experience in hospital nutrition/food service setting.
Special Skills and Abilities: Required: Ability to assess patients with a variety of nutrition problems and ages (ex. Oncology, cardiac and renal issues, diabetes, pediatrics, bariatrics, newborns); ability to develop class material and teach patients and others; ability to perform online documentation. Ability to use clinical judgment and problem solve as needed; ability to work as a team with other disciplines; ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point; public speaking experience.
