[email protected] Job Description This is a non-merit position with the Department of Human Services - Glenwood Resource Center. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise. The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Physician to join the team at the Glenwood Resource Center (GRC) which offers a continuum of care to Iowans experiencing intellectual disabilities. This is a full-time position with a Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. schedule and on call duties as scheduled.
The Physician is a key member of the interdisciplinary team with many roles and responsibilities, some of which are outlined here. This position performs medical assessments (including but not limited to annual physicals, quarterly follow-ups, routine/acute care, pre-procedure assessments, and admission history) to diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medications, monitor ongoing treatment, and make referrals to clinics/hospitals according to generally accepted professional standards of care. Post-assessment, the Physician develops medical treatment plans and shares responsibility for plan implementation with other care providers while empowering the client by relating in a manner conducive to promoting improved physical and mental health. This position also completes medical records and reports, actively participates in setting and meeting the mission and goals of the organization, and adheres to all policies, procedures, laws, and regulations as set forth by ICF/MR regulations, Code of Iowa, and the Department of Health and Human Services to assure quality medical and treatment services.
In addition to providing life-changing direct care, this position serves as a valuable resource for the facility. The Physician educates and provides medical instruction to various professionals and staff on a variety of medical issues and concerns and communicates with other physicians, professionals, family members, and community personnel to meet client needs and provide quality service. Physicians also have the opportunity to attend professional meetings and conferences and are urged to keep abreast of current trends and new developments in the field.
Physicians must be registered with the Drug Enforcement Administration and CMS for National Provider Identifier.
Employees are eligible for a $1,500 retention payment for a commitment of 7 pay periods (14 weeks) and are eligible for renewal at the end of each 7 pay periods until the facility closes. Speak to the hiring manager for more information on eligibility.
Located in southwest Iowa, GRC provides residential services for individuals who have struggled to be successful in the community, gives in-home support for those who transition to the community, and assists community-based providers by providing assessments, training, and other technical support. The goal of all GRC services is to help individuals be successful in their communities.
