Accountabilities:
Summer Health Assistants work with the Summer Health Director to supervise the health and sanitation for several summer programs operating at Colgate University. They act as liaisons to the Madison County Department of Health by maintaining all medical paperwork and reporting incidents as they arise, including days, nights, and weekends.
Summer Health Assistants assist with health screenings, the supervision of medication administration, and the maintenance of confidential medical histories. They respond to emergencies, make referrals to Community Memorial Hospital, report incidents to the Madison County Department of Health, and maintain a daily medical log.Professional Experience/Qualifications:
Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
Must be capable of working professionally with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students on a daily basis.Education:
Must be certified in New York State as one of the following: a physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or emergency medical technician, in addition to having a current certificate in Responding to Emergencies first aid and a current CPR certification not exceeding one year in duration.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand for long periods of time and to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds.
