POSITION TITLE: Case Manager (Resettlement & Placement)
REPORTS TO: Resettlement & Placement Program Manager
WORKSITE: Lincoln, Nebraska

POSITION DESCRIPTION: An ILC + REC Resettlement & Placement (R&P) Case Manager is an integral part of ILC’+REC’s Resettlement & Placement Program. The R&P Case Manager provides trauma-informed services to refugees and other qualified immigrants to support a positive resettlement experience and the achievement of client self-sufficiency. The R&P Case Manager works closely with clients, colleagues, and external parties to develop service and/or self-sufficiency plans to meet individual client needs and preferences. A broad range of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other services and resources are used in accordance to client eligibility and program requirements. The ideal candidate for this position has lived experience or professional experience working with refugees and immigrants, is dependable, is an exceptional interpersonal communicator, and has strong cultural competence and passion to serve the refugee community.
CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: - Coordinate timely pre- and post-arrival services to ensure each client has living essentials such as housing, food, medical care, and access to transportation, and is oriented to their new environment.
- Greet and welcome clients who just arrived at the airport.
- Orient the clients to their new home by teaching them how to use all home appliances, where to find items and store items, and additional important information regarding upkeeping their new home.
- Coordinate with the proper interpreters in a timely manner, based on the language needs of clients, and to ensure the clients language needs are always met for each meeting.
- Conduct intake services with clients to assess needs. Develop self-sufficiency plans and timelines with each client. Provide individualized support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy.
- Assess and monitor client progress to support their attainment of established goals, address challenges, and to ensure that available resources are utilized.
- Answer and respond to client needs under the R&P program in a timely manner and redirect other needs to the respective departments.
- Detail each client interaction in accordance with program requirements. Input client information in database(s) and assist with tracking and reporting as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers and partner organizations. Build and maintain relationships with area service providers for the benefit of clients.
- Use personal, insured vehicle to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.
- Attend all required program meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Minimum of 1 – 3 years of lived experience or working with refugee and immigrant communities, or an equivalent combination of experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job is required.
- Minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience and demonstrated ability to provide trauma-informed case management, or social work services is required.
- Fluent in English, written and orally is required. Fluency in another language, such as French, Karen, Arabic, and/or Pashto, in addition to English, is not required but strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Lincoln’s community resources, work opportunities, and additional resources for refugee’s and immigrants is strongly preferred.
- Strong commitment to ILC+REC mission and values in serving immigrants/refugees/newcomers.
- Deep understanding of and ability to work sensitively and well with people of diverse national, ethnic, cultural, religions, gender identities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Fluency in using Office 365 applications (ex. Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.) and a strong ability to learn new software is required.
- Exceptional interpersonal communications and customer service skills.
- Exceptional multi-tasking skills and ability to think critically and problem solve during client calls and meetings.
- Exhibits responsibility through good attendance, effective time management, dependability, self-discipline, flexibility, and working independently.
- Openly supports departmental and organizational changes and demonstrates comfort working in a rapidly growing and evolving organization.
- Ability to occasionally work some nights, or weekends, as needed, while still maintaining a 40-hour work week by flexing time.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, self-insured vehicle, and a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass all required background checks.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.

WORKING CONDITIONS: - This job consists of frequent driving in addition to sitting at a desk for long periods of time.
- Workdays pertain to a Monday – Friday schedule, with some weekends and nights required based on client needs. If needed to work outside of regular office hours, flextime is available.
COMPENSATION: - Annual base salary of $46,000 - $47,500, commensurate upon experience.
