Lung Transplant / Lung Failure Fellowship: Internship Opportunity

UPMC

Location

Altoona, PA | United States

Job description

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, is seeking candidates for the following one-year advance training fellowship:

The Lung Transplant / Lung Failure Fellowship provides extensive exposure in the disciplines of lung transplantation, ECMO, Ex vivo Lung Perfusion and other aspects of surgical therapy for end-stage lung failure. This is an intense, high-volume experience that provides unparalleled exposure for the candidate as they prepare for their future career. It is anticipated that the fellows will meet UNOS requirements for lung procurement and transplantation during the fellowship as they meet milestones of training.

This fellowship is newly formatted and designed. Although this is a lung transplant/failure focused experience, we are also offering a customizable experience in either cardiac or thoracic surgery to ensure that the fellow is well-prepared for future job and career opportunities. For those interested in maintaining their cardiac or thoracic skill set during the year, we will explore integrated opportunities within the cardiac and thoracic surgical service lines depending on the candidates track and interest.

The fellowship also offers tremendous opportunities for mentored clinical research in lung transplantation, cardiac surgery, and thoracic surgery. The opportunity to present and participate at national and international meetings is strongly supported and encouraged through the fellowship.
