Job description

The University of Kansas is seeking full-time dispatchers that will work with police and emergency personnel in protecting the life, health, safety and campus property by expeditiously receiving, analyzing, evaluating and prioritizing emergent and non-emergent information via telephone, radio, computer, alarms, printers and in person contacts. The position also processes and maintains police records.

The KU Emergency Communications Center operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including holidays. Communications personnel work four-day work weeks for three different work shifts 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., 2 p.m. - 12a.m. and 10 p.m. - 8 a.m. Sunday through Saturday. Shifts are assigned with rotating days off. Overtime is available and or required for special events, major incidents and shift coverage.
