Burn and Plasma Table Operator

Job description
Summary: This position entails programming, set up and operating the burn/plasma table by entering instructions, moving steel onto and off the machine and prepping the parts for other departments. Processing quality products safely and efficiently.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Identify paperwork / work order documents and creating a mental map of how each order will fit on table.
- Group orders by thickness and prioritize according to; supervisor's input, 2nd runs, customer will calls or other requirements.
- Select and execute proper material handling procedures using various equipment: chains assembly with plate hooks, or plate dog, magnet, spreader bar to place material safely on table as needed
- Locate material on floor, locate material in staging, home location or plate drop racks,
- Select proper tips for burner torch depending on material to be cut and desired edge.
- Program CNC computer per work order instructions, clean scrap slag off of finished parts as they are cut, stack parts on skid
- After cleaning all slag on both sides, place parts on skid for packaging, while understanding the trucking and customer unloading requirements.
- Shrink wrap as needed, band material with steel banding, label skid with work order number, customer name, PO number as required.
- Remove all scrap from table, place in dumpster, and place finished order in staging area as required, maintaining a clean and safe work area.
- Perform quality checks during production and coordinate with supervisor when problems arise.
- Perform additional duties as assign by management.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job which are required 80% of the workday (i.e. lifting 50 lbs, pulling, pushing, standing, and climbing
- Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred.
- Math, geometry, measurement and PC skills, and must be able to read orders, a tape measure and calipers.
- Able to read and understand basic blueprints and drawings
- Ability to climb up and down the burning table and forklifts
- Stepping in and around layouts, lifting boards/dunnage onto table, bending and lifting to stack small pieces/bags (finished goods) of table and onto skids.
- Complete employee provided CPR & Basic First Aid training.
- Work shifts and over time when required.
