The Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS) is administratively housed with a group of departments that is led by the Assistant Vice Chancellor Student Retention and Success (SRS). The SRS unit is charged with expanding existing Student Affairs retention initiatives and contributing to collaborative efforts across campus to improve programs, services, and support for student success. SRS consists of seven high-profile, core functional units including the; Chancellor's Associates Scholars Program (CASP); Undergraduate Research Hub (URH); Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS); Student Veterans Resource Center; Undocumented Student Services Center (USSC), Student Success Coaching Program, and the SRS Business Office. The Student Retention & Success area plays a leadership role in creating, providing, and coordinating services that foster student success and persistence in response to the Chancellor's strategic plan to improve retention and graduation rates.
The mission of OASIS is to facilitate the holistic development of UC San Diego students, particularly those who may be first generation, low income, and/or historically underrepresented in higher education. By creating a challenging and supportive environment that emphasizes collaboration, self-discovery, validation, equity, and community, OASIS contributes significantly to students' retention, sense of community, and leadership skills.

Performs a limited range of counseling and advice to targeted students. Provides straightforward counseling and advice to commonly-encountered situations independently, but receives assistance situations requiring further support and resources. ** Under the general supervision of the Summer Bridge Program Manager and work direction from the assistant coordinator, incumbent is responsible for a broad range of program support, program delivery, advising, counseling, planning, direction, to SB students, which serves underrepresented and underserved students. Work directly with students developing and presenting SB workshops, providing information and assistance relative to their academic and educational needs. Participates in the recruitment of incoming participants in SB. Participates with the recruitment, training, and supervision of student staff, providing guidance and counseling relative to their academic and socio-cultural needs. Establishes and maintains liaisons with academic and campus departments vital to the implementation of program services, including the Colleges Residential Life teams. Serves on committees, special projects and related assignments as appointed by the SB Coordinator and Summer Programs Manager. In the absence of the SB Coordinator, responsible for providing direction to student employees. Assists with management of SB service delivery, data, and supports in-person and remote program modality such as, but not limited to residential component evening office coverage, event programming, peer mentor and student coordinator staff meetings/trainings year-long etc.
Must be available to work during the Summer Bridge Residential Life program in the months of August-September. Overtime and weekends may be required.

Knowledge of the theories and practice of counseling, learning, human and career development.
Graduation from college with major work in counseling or related field and two years of related experience in a college-level student support service, preferably in a learning skills service, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assign to the position.
Knowledge of personal growth and development areas, including critical thinking, effective communication, self-appraisal, self-esteem, clarification of values, appropriate career choices, and leadership. Verified skill
