Job Purpose
Dana is searching for a skilled and motivated candidate in the role of Engineering Group Manager to develop and lead a group responsible for Controls Development related to the Inverter/Motor including all associated features/functions. This work involves growing/organizing the group from a resource standpoint, process maturity as well as controls technical product growth in areas of core Motor controls and all required features and functions, to expand Dana’s commitment to products that improve vehicle safety, performance, and fuel economy. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- As the leader of the team, function as the key role player and responsible technically for the team to develop and deliver the controls strategies with required timing and quality in areas such as but not limited to Core Motor Controls, NVH, Thermal, Derating, State Machine Sequencing, Functional Safety Feature(s) development.
- Be the key role player and responsible towards establishing and growing the process areas as it relates to MBD and controls aspects working with the team and cross functionally with process team(s) and other team(s) as required.
- Identifying the group’s needs, build/grow the group’s structure as well as the headcount in an optimal manner.
- Champion the controls development with a mindset of maintaining and managing a reusable/core/platform control that supports all the required programs/applications through the product lifecycle.
- Working closely with the management team lead and support as required the RFI/RFQ process from a controls team standpoint.
- Work closely with the team and drive/support as required the logistical and technical problem solving for the team including interactions with cross functional teams such as Systems/BSW/SW Integration/SW Qualification/Validation etc.
- Working closely with the EPMs and the team ensure the team has robust feature release plan(s) for the various programs including driving dependency solutions and establishing common understanding for the same.
- Interface directly and closely with Chief Engineering, Program Management, Management team as required to develop and present customer delivery strategies, timing impact inputs etc. as required.
- Work closely with the FuSa and Cybersecurity Technical team(s) drive/establish working processes as well as decomposition and definition of Software Requirements and downstream work products definition.
- Support technical discussions including customer interfacing as required to establish direction and strategy from time to time along with other responsible areas/team members.
- Ensure that from a controls team deliverables standpoint the ASPICE development process growth/maturity including at a per release level is clarified/agreed upon with process/cross functional teams and then followed accordingly towards achieving those maturity milestones.
- Guide and mentor team members hands on across projects so they can successfully deliver features functions including core functionality/concept understanding and controls implementation guidance as required.
- Guide the team for the overall classic AUTOSAR development flow while executing the features/functions on projects.
- Develop and grow core strategy documentation for presentation to Management team including executive management as required from time to time to provide insight into current and future motor controls strategy and status.
- Also as required support the development of Advanced/Next Generation DANA Inverter/Motor products keeping it aligned towards the production path working with cross functional team members and management team as required.
- Stay abreast with the latest industry trends in the related area and apply towards hands on production controls development as required.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Engineering in Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering required. PhD in Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- 10+ years of hands on experience in the development of Automotive Controls Development in areas such as but not limited to Motor Controls Development and Testing , EV/HEV domain controls, transmission controls for production level features and functions required.
- Working experience using Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow model-based software development required.
- Working experience with AUTOSAR development flow and tools such as Mathworks/Electrobit/Vector/dSPACE etc tool chains for the same.
- Working experience with SW development tools such as Polarion, Git, Jira, Confluence..etc.
- Working experience with A-SPICE processes, and Agile methods.
- Ability to successfully work with management team members, cross functional peers, and members within a team alike to cohesively deliver on projects in an aligned manner.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills; problem solving, planning and decision making.
- Must be a self-directed and motivated individual who is organized and able to accept multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally.
Preferred:
Architecture knowledge of vehicle powertrain control systems.
- Previous experience releasing production model-based software in projects certified to A-SPICE L2.
- Azure repos and artifactory usage experience.
- Previous experience optimizing controls parameters during vehicle testing.
- Understanding of the ISO26262 FuSa and ISO21434 Cybersecurity Engineering standard and practices.
- Understanding of product development standards including APQP, DVP&R, DFM and DFMEA.
