Position Title: Intern - Pavement Management (Three Positions)
Supervisor: Steve Gramm

Minimum Salary: $21.04 (Non-Engineer Students) and $23.48 (Engineer Students)

Position Description :
The interns will participate in conducting pavement distress surveys to identify and quantify distress on various types of highway pavements. This is accomplished by going onsite to survey pre-determined segments of state highways. The interns will be trained on how to identify and quantify pavement distresses on various types of highway pavements. All training is provided by the DOT and no previous training or knowledge is needed. Two of the intern positions will regularly travel to collect the distress data. These positions will require overnight stays and typically work four 10+ hour days each week. The third intern position will work both in the field collecting distress data and in the office reviewing the data collected. This position's work schedule varies from four 10+ hour days when in the field to five 8 hour days per week when in the office. Remote work is negotiable when in the office. All three positions have weekends off.

Qualifications :
Applicant must be a enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
