Telecommuting eligibility: Hybrid. Eligible for telecommuting up to 40% (up to one (2) day per week).

In accordance with the agreement between the Organization 0f School Administrators (OSAS) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, Table of Contents, Section 7.0 Promotions, the following vacancy is announced:

Position Summary : The Recruiter (Program Associate I) is essential to our ability to attract exceptional talent to DPSCD. The Recruiter will be responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of school-based staff (including instructional and support staff) for approximately 25 schools. He or she will collaborate with Human Resources staff to track key metrics, monitor onboarding information, attend in-state and out-of-state recruitment events, and ensure implementation of best practices for the recruitment, hiring and onboarding of exceptional talent for DPSCD.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
Minimum of three (3) years of verifiable experience providing operations, recruitment and/or organizational support.
Must be proficient with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Outlook)
Experience with PeopleSoft 9.2+ preferred
Experience recruiting for K-12 settings preferred.

Essential Functions

Support the recruitment and onboarding of new talent.
Provide best-in-class customer service to internal and external constituents.
Collaborate with Human Resources team on implementing new systems and processes for recruitment and onboarding.
Ensuring continuous improvement in the recruitment cycle.
Work directly with school sites to set expectations for the recruitment process, and follow through on organizational commitments, including:

Identifying vacancies and refer potential candidates based on the school’s unique needs.
Tracking and document referral and vacancy data and follow up with principals/hiring managers to ensure all vacancies are filled.
Providing support and training to principals and hiring managers to identify and recruit top-tier talent.
Collecting and analyze data to measure progress toward school and district staffing goals.
Providing logistical support to principals/hiring managers on district deadlines, key dates, policies and requirements

In addition to supporting school sites, the Recruiter will collaborate with central office Human Resources staff to perform the following duties:

Implement recruitment strategies that are aligned with the District’s overall approach to staff recruitment and that yield a diverse and talented applicant pool for available vacancies including, developing marketing campaigns and materials, coordinating recruitment activities and job fairs, and implementing outreach to cultivate high quality candidates
Communicate with Human Resources and hiring managers regularly on candidate needs throughout the, application, interviewing and onboarding processes.
Meet goals for ensuring enough candidates applying to vacancies.

Leverage high yield recruiting resources (applicant tracking systems, job boards, online postings, communication and social media support, and other sources) that allow for identifying high quality candidates.
Maintain relationships with new hires to build a professional network for future candidate referrals.
Support the District’s existing strategy to foster strong College/University Relations partnerships, including attending recruiting and career fairs in conjunction with Human Resources staff
Proactively collaborate with colleagues in other DPSCD departments
Proactively engage contacts in Benefits and Compensation, Human Resources, etc. when the candidate’s needs or questions require subject-matter expertise.
Attend appropriate HR and business function staff meetings and present recruiting and hiring metrics.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Security Clearance:

Internal Applicants

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.

External Applicants
