The Contract Systems & Data Analyst manages all projects assigned under the direction and guidance of the manager within their area of responsibility while supporting the initiatives and goals of the Department.

This position is open to both hybrid and remote work arrangements. For a hybrid schedule, the office is based in Edison, NJ. 

A day in the life of a Contract Systems & Data Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

• Model financial impact of contract proposals and recommend rate strategies to achieve the desired outcome. Use data driven analytics to maximize rate returns.
• Identify areas of concern impacting revenue by closely monitoring financial performance and compliance with managed care contract terms to ensure revenue is maximized.
• Development models to analyze payor trends focusing on utilization, service mix, revenue cash collections and write-offs.
• Compile trends/targets & expectations for assigned payors or Charge Description Master (CDM) monthly.
• Perform additional ad hoc projects as assigned.
• Monitor all issues with respect to Revenue Operations for assigned payors or CDM and collaborate with operations & Managed Care to correct.
• Report issues & impact analysis to the Revenue Operations & Contracting Manager.
• Well-versed in data modeling concepts with ability to perform complex relational database tasks.
• Collaborate with the Managed Care department to ensure the terms and rates modeled are reflected in the final contract.
• Provide leadership to create a dynamic analytic/strategy team tasked with providing strategic direction and operational management for all financial activities supporting commercial payers.
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related degree.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial/business analytics, data mining and/or informatics.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking ability.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Collaboration with other team members.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Masters in Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related degree.
• Minimum of 2 years of healthcare experience in managed care contract management.
• Relational database experience including SQL proficiency.
• Experience with data transformation and visualization tools (Alteryx, Looker, etc.).
• Epic Certified - Clarity Data Models, Resolute Hospital Billing & Claims and Professional Billing.
• Basic familiarity with healthcare revenue cycle including medical coding concepts (i.e. CPT, DRG, Facility vs Professional fees).
