Our client has an immediate need for a COBOL Programmer, is responsible for writing programs to maintain and control computer systems software for operating systems, networked systems, and database system
Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science/relevant field
- 3 5 years of experience
- Experience with JCL, COBOL (Batch & Online) and CICS
- Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing, and delivery
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve the issue
- Knowledge of computer development software, such as SQL, Java, J2EE, etc.
- Experience with Eztrive and FileAID is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and updating Cobol codes, JCL, and creating adhoc reports
- Modifying existing software to correct errors, adapt it to new hardware, or upgrade interfaces and improve performance
- Designing and developing software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design
- Consulting with engineering staff to evaluate the interface between hardware and software, develop specifications and performance requirements, and resolve customer problems
- Advising customers about, or performing, maintenance of software system
