Job description

Position Summary

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains multiple cell strains, including culturing for experiments, freezing, and distributing to collaborators
• Planning and executing cell VDJ recombination assays, including initial transfections, selections, flow cytometry, and data analyses
• Flow cytometry experience with both LSRII and ATTune bench top analyzers
• DNA plasmid preparation and analysis
• Cellular DNA damage sensitivity assays using standard colony forming assay as well as viability staining assays
• Planning and executing CRISPR experiments, both to ablate specific gene functions and alter gene function via homology directed repair
• CRISPR screening strategies including genomic DNA preparation and PCR analysis as well as protein extract preparation followed by immunoblot analyses
• Maintain detailed laboratory procedure and experimental records
• Supervise undergraduate workers
• Maintaining laboratory supplies by ordering and stocking reagents and supplies

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or other related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic research techniques in the specific or related field; word processing, spreadsheet; database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The job may require the appropriate pesticide applicator's registration/certification and/or experience working with potentially dangerous research animals.
