Job description

Coordinates and ensures quality assurance for patients from radiation therapy simulation through end of treatment. Monitors technical treatment procedures, staff competencies, and workflow to ensure safe, efficient day-to-day operations, and confidence in expected quality outcomes. Helps to ensure optimal work flow with radiation oncology in conjunction with Chief Therapist, Chief of Physics, Director of Quality, and Medical Director.

1. Maintains a high level of technical skill to regularly perform and review all of the section procedures, and acts as a technical resource to staff.
2. In conjunction with the Chief Therapist, determines technical staff competence by developing and facilitating annual competency requirements.
3. Collaborates with all sections and support staff to ensure adherence to departmental standards, procedures, and protocols.
4. Provides day-to-day quality assurance management for various clinical and support activities.
5. Participates in the development and execution of new employee orientation and training.
6. Monitors, maintains, and orders treatment related supplies and equipment.
7. In conjunction with department leaders, develops and maintains current, appropriate, and efficient policies and procedures relative to the delivery of quality health care and good patient relations. Facilitates the implementation of new and updated policies and procedures. Applies knowledge of the oncology information system (OIS) to maximize quality and efficiency of patient treatment process.
8. Monitors the scheduling system (patient and provider) and the OIS Care Path system to assure maximum use of available time and resources and ensure quality assurance initiatives.

9. Generates section specific reports for discussion with departmental management.
10. Collects and prepares data for assigned budget-related activities for the section.
11. In conjunction with leadership, assists in the implementation and compliance of research protocols.
12. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
