Reporting Responsibility Head of Community Programs
Position SummaryThe Learning & Engagement Assistant provides administrative, logistical, and customer service support for Joslyn’s studio and community programs and general Museum visitor experience. This entry-level position is primarily an administrative one, with most work completed at a desk (sitting and/or standing). This new role becomes available as Joslyn prepares to reopen after a two-year closure for a transformative building expansion and renovation project nears completion.
Major Duties- Post, monitor, and update studio and community program descriptions and registration forms on Joslyn’s website and in the Museum’s customer management system
- Receive and respond to email, phone, and in-person inquiries regarding program registration, adult tour requests, payments, refunds, scholarships, access and accommodations – following up or routing inquiries as needed
- Correspond with program participants regarding confirmations and reminders, cancellations, program surveys and assessment, etc.
- Provide support for on-site and virtual programs and events including internal cross-departmental communications, reserving meeting spaces and equipment needs, setting-up virtual calls, helping with physical set-up, welcoming and checking-in program participants, etc.
- Gather and record program attendance, Learning & Engagement volunteer hours, and other data for grant requests and reports
- Replenish interpretive materials and maintain equipment used by Learning & Engagement volunteers and Museum visitors
- Attend relevant educational/outreach events to participate, represent, and promote Joslyn’s studio and community programs and the Museum at large
- Participate in relevant trainings, webinars, and community gatherings to grow skills and build a professional network
- Adhere to policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Be knowledgeable about Museum activities, services, and layout and be willing to assist any visitor and ensure they have a positive experience
- Other duties related to the Learning & Engagement department as assigned
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent, some college experience or an associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Excellent data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent communication skills (oral/written), organizational and customer service skills
- Strong aptitude to learn new software programs
- Enthusiasm/appreciation for art and community
Salary Starting Salary: $16.75 per hour
