Position Overview:
A reasonable estimate for this position is $66,259 - $72,404


The Department of Comparative Literature at the University of California, Davis invites applicants for a part-time Unit 18 Lecturer for the 2023-2024 academic year. Field of specialization is open, although ability to teach global literature from the modern period, along with expertise in teaching college composition, are ideal. Successful candidates will demonstrate competence teaching introductory courses at the college level. Primary duties are to teach in COM 3 - Major Works of the Modern World in spring and to hold office hours each week.

Assignment of classes, hours of instruction, and office hours are at the discretion of the department. Classes are held Monday-Friday, normally between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Salary is commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience and a reasonable estimate for this position is $66,259 - $72,404 based on a full-time 100% appointment. This appointment is renewable contingent on department teaching needs and demonstration of excellence in teaching.

Shared office space, access to the campus library, copier, and computer facilities will be provided. This appointment is renewable contingent on program teaching needs and funding.

Requirements:
PhD in hand at the time of appointment; expertise in a relevant subfield of Comparative Literature; experience designing and delivering writing-intensive courses; and excellence in teaching.
