DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Director of Technology will work closely with the firm's Chief Information Officer to design, plan, and integrate the primary services and applications used by the firm. The Director of Technology will also be asked to collaborate closely with the CIO and business leadership team to work on projects and tasks as assigned. The Director of Technology should be able to work independently, manage their time effectively, and be open to learning and consulting industry peers on the firm's primary applications and services.
This position will be based in our Sacramento, CA office.
SALARY AND BENEFITS :
$160,000-$190,000
Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partners with the CIO in providing technology vision and direction for the firm.
- Oversees the development of technology standards, governance processes, and performance metrics to ensure IT delivers value to the firm.
- Works with the CIO and business leadership team, providing technical expertise in support of firm-wide business decisions.
- Directs technical staff in the successful fulfillment of IT service delivery commitments including staffing, training, evaluating, counseling, and terminating or recommending termination.
- Provides leadership in planning and managing IT product and service development.
- Oversees the effective daily delivery of computer operations and production support, system and database administration, network operations, PC/desktop support, and customer service.
- Identifies and implements best practices for optimizing infrastructure and operation costs, improving system performance, and ensuring service-level requirements are met within firm guidelines.
- Stays current with developments in new technologies and platforms.
- Manages IT resource requirements to ensure an appropriate balance between tactical and strategic demands.
- Leads IT asset management team to ensure that assets achieve their full lifetime cycle value.
- Works with the CIO to develop and manage strategic vendor and partnership relationships.
- Directs the preparation, review and consolidation of IT business plans, budgets, and forecasts.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS :
- Experience in a professional service firm environment such as law firm, financial firm, etc.
- 5+ years of progressive experience with comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering in at least two (2) IT disciplines (such as strategic planning, solution architecture, technology architecture, network management, security management, change management, application development, middleware design, information analysis, database management, project management and operations management).
- Able to translate business needs into business goals and requirements.
- Able to estimate the financial impact of technology alternatives.
- Able to rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new trends and technologies.
- Able to understand and navigate the unique political climate of a law firm.
- Able to remain neutral toward technology, vendor, and product choices, with a focus on results rather than personal preferences.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Outstanding analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
