Job description

Purpose:

This is a full-time tenure track position in Studio Art at the assistant professor level beginning in August 2024 in the Department of Humanities and Communications. The Department seeks candidates prepared to teach two and three-dimensional Art.

Essential Job Functions:

The responsibilities for this full-time (9 month) tenure-track position in Art will include instructing and advising Art and Art Education majors. The teaching load will be 4 courses (12 credit hours) per semester. The faculty member will provide classroom instruction in accordance with establish course objectives while using comparative cross-cultural, multicultural, and multidisciplinary perspectives. Teaching assignments may include color and design, or other painting, drawing, figure drawing, printmaking, sculpture, fibers, jewelry, gallery management art classes as determined through the shared governance processes at the college.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

As assigned by the Department Chair.

Qualifications:

A Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree is required. A candidate with experience teaching at the college level, particularly in environments with student populations of diverse backgrounds, is preferred, as is a candidate who has credentials or experience in graphic design, architectural design, or related areas. Experience obtaining grants or other forms of external program funding is also desirable.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

The ideal candidate will hold an MFA in Studio Art in a two or three-dimensional, (3-D preferred) or an equivalent terminal degree.

Physical Demands:

• Light sedentary office work
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
