Candidate requirements
Job specification - Conducting patient assessments and developing individualized care plans.
- Administering medications and treatments prescribed by physicians.
- Monitoring patient progress and providing ongoing support and education to patients and their families.
- Collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Providing crisis intervention and managing challenging behaviors in patients.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
- Participating in quality improvement and risk management activities.
- Advocating for patient rights and promoting a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Providing education and support to patients and families to help them cope with mental illness.
- Participating in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field.
Candidate requirements - Diploma, Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN), or an applied degree in nursing (ADN)
- Current and valid RN license
- Experience in mental health or psychiatric nursing
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse (RN-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- Continuing education to maintain license and stay current in the field
- Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN)
- Forensic Nursing Certification
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMHNP-BC)
- Geriatric Mental Health Specialist Certification.
