Job description
Job Summary:
· Is responsible to and receives direction from the supervisor, staff consultants, and laboratory
· management team.
· Works cooperatively with internal and external customers, co-workers, supervisor, as well as other work units.
Key functions include:
· Works with the Technical Specialist II, Technical Specialist Coordinator, and the laboratory management
· team to provide direction for the technical operation of the laboratory, including operation maintenance.
· Troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays.
· Validates and documents operational changes using the test life cycle process (TLCP).
· Provides direction for operational workflow and serves as an expert resource for the work unit.
· Completes other projects or assignments as assigned and serves as an expert resource for laboratory technologists.
Required Skills & Experience:
· Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and assays.
· Performs and supports activities that contribute to the overall management of the
· laboratory.
· Provides IM support for laboratory and clinical laboratory technologists.
Required Education:
· Bachelors degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, or biological science from an accredited institution.
· OR
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS.
· In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, a bachelors degree with laboratory certification if applicable.
· A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
· Two years of relevant laboratory experience required.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
· ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
