Identity and Access Management (IAM) Services at Harvard delivers technologies and processes that enable access for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and affiliates while safeguarding University resources and users. The Product Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of two or more service offerings including managing relationships with business partners, managing small and medium projects, identifying and documenting functional specifications, designing solutions and prioritizing user requests. Works independently and collaboratively with the Director, Service Owners, technical teams and vendors to ensure alignment with goals, policies and emerging trends.
As a Service Offering Owner (SOO), responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance and support of two IT service offerings within IAM Group Services
Meets with business partners and vendors to identify business priorities and users' needs.
Attends conferences and webinars to stay up-to-date on product roadmaps and future functionality.
Communicates with stakeholders to ensure that business needs are captured, documented, prioritized, and scheduled.
Works with the technical team and other SOOs to deliver committed features and maintain an awareness of university and government policies that may have bearing on the offering.
Partners with the technical team to iteratively design solutions to a business need or end-user request. Meets with the users to understand the issue and the business processes impacted. Ensures that the solution fits in the existing system design, is maintainable over time, and is understood by the users. Provides training to end users if needed. Documents the solution to ensure that other analysts can support it.
Works independently to identify and document functional specifications. Partners with QA team to document comprehensive test cases. Collaborates with the technical team, other analysts, and/or vendor to ensure complete integration of solutions across systems and areas. Signs off on testing. Works with end-users and vendors to obtain their sign off during testing, as appropriate. Provides end-user documentation and training if needed.
Provides product support for new and existing systems, interfaces and processes that support the client's business functions including taking a hands-on lead for certain operational issues to bring about resolution for customers. Ensures that users’ requests and incidents are resolved within our SLAs.
Mentors analysts in their area of expertise by reviewing other analysts’ work, answering questions and conducting informal or formal training sessions.
Collaborates with the Director, Service Owners, Product Managers and other analysts to identify opportunities for process or system improvements. Make suggestions to implement those changes.
