What You'll Be Doing:
The SVP, Evolent Primary Care is responsible for leading all aspects of Primary Care strategy and performance for Evolent and reports directly to the President, Evolent Performance Suite. Responsibilities include: overall financial performance accountability, overseeing the executive relationships and contractual relationships with our payer and provider partners, team development and leadership, and establishing and delivering against a clearly defined performance plan for each business segment. In addition, this individual will be a key leader and contributor to primary care strategy, product development, growth and specialty integration, working closely with leaders from across Evolent.
The SVP will assume the role of President of Evolent Care Partners ("ECP"), Evolent's business unit focused on value-based care relationships with primary care practices. ECP launched as an internal start-up in 2020 with a wholly owned Medicare Shared Savings Program ("MSSP") Accountable Care Organization ("ACO") spanning four states. In 2024, ECP spans 10 states and is accountable for well over $1B in medical expenses via risk-based relationships with payers and primary care providers. In 2022, the most recent year of data available, ECP generated over $55M of savings for Medicare in the Shared Savings Program.
Essential Functions:
Provides executive leadership and management across a broad spectrum of responsibilities - from strategy setting to operational execution
Hold accountability for success, satisfaction, and retention of Evolent's primary care network partners
Serves as President of ECP and President and Board member for The Accountable Care Organization (TACO - Evolent's owned MSSP ACO)
Holds accountability for establishing and delivering on a clearly defined performance plan for Evolent Primary Care and sub-plans for each business segment (MSSP, Medicare Advantage, and Commercial payer partnerships)
Sets clear goals and objectives using metrics to measure performance while holding team members accountable
Responsible for a dedicated team supporting Network Strategy and Performance, Payer Operations and Quality, and Clinical Operations
Responsible for matrix leadership of functions integrated across Evolent, including Analytics, Actuarial, Data/Technology, Finance, Growth, and Product Development
Builds and maintains a high-performance culture featuring individual empowerment and productive collaboration. Provides coaching to improve performance and holds regular development discussions with direct reports
Ensures strict compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies, procedures and processes
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business or related field
Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership and management experience
Leadership role within a value based primary care organization (ACO or Managed Services Organization)
Experience with primary care risk models - shared savings and/or capitation
Demonstrated experience driving and managing performance and achieving key financial targets
Comfort in ambiguity: you've worked in a startup environment or something similar where there wasn't always clarity about what you should do next
Excellent written, computer, and oral communication skills
Experience with Medical Expense reporting and initiative development
A strategic thinker and tactical executor who can move an idea from concept to reality
Proven ability to interact with and influence clients and internal stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
M.B.A. or equivalent graduate degree
An accomplished executive with superior management skills and a successful track record of leading, developing, and mentoring leaders and future leaders
Intense intellectual curiosity and an ability to view old problems with a fresh perspective
Ability to effectively engage with and influence staff from central functions without direct reporting control
Technical Requirements:
We require that all employees have the following technical capability at their home: High speed internet over 10 Mbps and, specifically for all call center employees, the ability to plug in directly to the home internet router.
