Job description
Our Controller will be directly responsible for all Accounting and Finance functions for the entire corporation including all national and international subsidiaries. Oversees and directs day to day Accounting processes, periodic financial reporting and budgeting, tax preparation and filing and audited financials preparation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures that monthly, quarterly and annual group reporting is completed timely according to the published corporate controlling schedule.
- Directly involved in booking of one-off transactions (e.g. purchase accounting, restructuring, etc.). Researches related GAAP and FASB principles and works with auditors/Tax Accountants in determining best treatment.
- Directly involved in determining accounting practices of more complex transactions (e.g. equity roll-forward).
- Manages and participates in budget preparation for all departments and companies as well as monthly forecast updates. Reports variance from forecast to actual and recommends appropriate controls.
- Builds analysis and forecast models for breakeven, cash flow and other business management tools. Builds ROI models and recommendations for Capital Expenditure.
- Prepare financial statements and other information for internal and external parties.
- Manages the issuance of annual audited financial reports.
- Manages the process of preparing and filing all taxes (income, sales, property, etc).
- Serves as primary contact with all national and international Banks involved.
- Participates in projects such as M&A, ESOP, and other growth initiatives.
- Overall owner of all accounting department standard work. Responsible for ensuring all standard work is kept up to date. Responsible for recommending improvements and implementing new processes.
- Supervises all accounting department functions directly and indirectly including: accruals, Depreciation and Amortization calculations, general ledger processes, which may include performance of or review of: accounts receivable collections and analysis of reserve for bad debts, vendor payments and review of periodic disbursements, daily cash reconciliation, monthly closing including reconciliation of general ledger accounts and preparation of standard and non-standard journal entries and financial reporting.
- Provides leadership to the team and performs all normal supervisory functions, to include hiring, training, appraisal, counseling, and discipline.
- Other projects or tasks as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Positions which report directly to this one: Senior and Staff Accountants.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- CPA required.
- Minimum seven (7) years of related experience with at least three years of recent experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- At least two years of recent supervisory experience required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to independently analyze detailed information and compile standard and non-standard reports.
- Understanding of strong internal control systems, able to make recommendations for improvements, carryout changes and monitor the internal control systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, interdepartmentally and externally with vendors, customers, financial institutions, auditors, and others.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Working knowledge of other Microsoft-based software (Word, PowerPoint).
- Proficient with ERP Systems (Epicor preferred).
