Job description
Rapidly growing company is seeking a recent graduate with 1-2 years accounting experience to work directly with our Controller. This is a great opportunity for an energetic, detail-oriented professional interested in developing their knowledge and skills in accounting and finance within a small business setting.
Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
- Maintaining general ledger chart of accounts and processing journal entries
- Performing account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and general ledger accounts
- Assisting the Controller with month-end/year-end closings and financial statements
- Reconcile and recommend resolution for report discrepancies and problems
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
- Assist with A/P and A/R as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1-2 years business experience
- Extremely proficient in Excel
- Strong understanding of the principles of accounting; ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages
- Knowledge of basic inventory accounting; understanding of the reconciliation between physical counts and the books
- Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral formats
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deals with frequent delays or unexpected situations
- Must exhibit sound judgment and have the ability to make good business decisions
- Must have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential material and situations appropriately
Full-time position; Monday through Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
