Job description

Overview

This person will instruct and evaluate student performance in the Engineering Design/CAD areas.

Qualifications

Education :

-Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline. (Minimum)

-Master’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline. (Desired)

-Undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering, Design, or related discipline from an institution accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). (Desired)

-Licensure as a Professional Engineer. (Desired)

-Forman coursework in Education. (Desired)

-Certification in SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD. (Desired)

Experience :

-Four (4) years related professional experience in Computer-Aided Drafting, Computer-Aided Product Design, Engineering, or related activities. (Minimum)

-Experience with AutoCAD and parametric design software. (Minimum)

-Experience with related software, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo (Pro-E) or other 3D parametric design software and FEA software. (Desired)

-Experience with free form surfacing modeling , Rhino or related software. (Desired)

-Teaching experience at the college/university level. (Desired)

Abilities and Skills:

-Competence in oral and written communications skills. (Minimum) 

-Ability to provide quality instruction. (Minimum)

-Developed organizational skills. (Minimum) 

-Possession of a valid driver's license. (Desired)

Responsibilities

-Instruct and evaluate student performance in Associate Degree and Baccalaureate Degree programs in Engineering CAD Technology and Engineering Design Technology including, but not limited to: CAD software and hardware, 2D and 3D CAD, Product Design, Engineering Analysis, FEA, Manufacturability, Drafting, and others appropriate to instructional area. (Essential) 

-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate up-to-date records on students. (Essential) 

-Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines. (Essential) 

-Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential) 

-Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination and maintenance. (Essential) 

-Comply with College safety, hazardous waste disposal, and recycling policies. (Essential) 

-Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities. (Essential) 

-Contribute to betterment of College through School committee participation. (Essential) 

-Contribute to betterment of College through College-wide committee participation. (Marginal) 

-Assist with the development of grant proposals and follow-up activities. (Essential) 

-Assist the Department Head with the design in development of instructional material lists, equipment specifications, program review, department budget requests, and assist in planning and development of the master schedule. (Essential) 

-Attend College, School and Department meetings as scheduled. (Essential) 

-Assist in providing tours and student recruitment activities scheduled by the College, school and/or department. (Essential) 

-Collect, maintain, and analyze student outcomes assessment data for use within the department and School. (Essential)

-The terms and conditions of employment for this position are subject to all the provisions of the bargaining agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association.

Pay TransparencyCommensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2023/24 academic year is $59,299 – $77,142. The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status. If you are currently a member of either the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System you may be required to contribute into the System.College Statement
