Position: Maintenance Worker
Location/Department: Norristown Corps – Business Department

Reporting Relationship: Corps Commanding Officers and/or their designee.
Salary/ Grade: $15.50/hr - $18.50/hr 74 NE Status: Full-Time, 35+ hours per week

Function:
The Salvation Army Norristown Corps is committed to demonstrate the love of Christ through safe, fun and edifying Christ-centered programming, including youth and emergency housing programs.
The Maintenance Worker will be responsible for the cleaning, sensitization and small repairs of the entire Corps facility & related properties. They will work to ensure that the facility remains presentable at all times.
The ideal candidate will remain teachable and interested in their ongoing professional development.
Duties:
- Involvement in the total program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, covering for monitors, etc.
- Promote observance of the moral and ethical codes affecting participants and staff.
- Attend and contribute to General Staff Meetings.
- Responsible for sharing with your immediate supervisor, all matters of mutual concern relating to the total welfare of the Corps.
- Comply with regulations regarding safety, fire, and health codes.
- General maintenance of all Salvation Army property including parking lot areas; General building upkeep includes cleaning every area of the building including interior and exterior of building – regular floor care (shampooing carpet, stripping & waxing) required
- Small repairs and troubleshoot all mechanical systems; (Minor repairs include ceiling tile changing, stopping of leaks wherever required, etc.)
- Receiving of all deliveries and ensuring that they are securely packed and covered. After packing away delivered items in pantry and storage area, make sure that all spills are swept and mopped.
- Routine vehicle maintenance including cleaning, fluid checks, etc.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, purchasing under guidance of Corps Officers
- Trash, snow and ice removal; maintain cleanliness of trash cans and related equipment
- Maintenance of sidewalks, all outside perimeter area of building
- Driving of 12 passenger van is required for donation pickups and supporting of the Red Kettle Campaign
- Any other duties as shall be required by the Corps Commanding Officers
- Order supplies given in written form to the Corps Officer for approval, who then passes it on for the Secretary to complete.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Five to ten years work experience in various handyman/odd jobs preferred
- HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Heating System experience is a plus, but not required
- Valid PA Driver’s License
- Current CPR & First Aid Certifications preferred
- As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
- Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
- Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
