Customer Service Bryan TX
Customer Service Bryan TX will be providing daily customer service support to the general public regarding utilities. This temporary position includes tasks such as setting up utility accounts, performing billing procedures, receiving and processing payments, making payment extension decisions, addressing customer inquiries, handling bill discrepancies and complaints, and ensuring accurate utility billing and collection functions for electric, water, sewer, garbage, roadway maintenance, and drainage services. This position serves as the entry-level in the customer service job family, involving basic customer service support and processing customer utility payments.
JOB DUTIES: Customer Service Bryan TX
- Provide timely and accurate assistance to utility customers, both over the phone and in person, addressing questions and concerns related to utility services such as bills, connections, disconnections, and service transfers. Apply and communicate routine/basic information on Utility Customer Service policies and regulations, documenting interactions on appropriate utility accounts.
- Create work orders for new connections, transfers, disconnections, non-payment service terminations, water and electric meter repairs, re-reads, and test services. Dispatch service personnel when necessary.
- Provide customers with accurate billing for electric, water, sewer, sanitation, roadway maintenance, and drainage services. Determine estimated consumption when necessary.
- Perform various tasks including receiving and processing utility payments, balancing cash drawers, making credit and debit adjustments, and establishing payment arrangements for customers when necessary.
- Process and send draft payments to the automated clearing house (ACH).
- Perform precise data entry of customer data and billing information, ensuring up-to-date and accurate utility account information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Two (2) years of customer service, clerical, or administrative support experience related to the area of assignment.
- Knowledge of general office methods, practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of efficient and effective customer service over the phone and in person.
- Basic data entry and 10 key skills.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain attention to detail in a work situation with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work and provide excellent customer service.
This is a temporary position. There is no opportunity for full-time at the moment.
