Job description
UPMC Health Plan and Workpartners are seeking a Part Time Onsite Health Educator II to serve within the Health Promotion department in the Susquehanna Region!
The Onsite Health Educator II works to develop, implement and teach health education and exercise programs to individuals and target groups of all ages. This role functions mainly to provide support for health and benefit fairs, health screenings, and other ongoing projects within the department. The Onsite Health Educator II works with others in the Health Promotion department to plan and coordinate events for employers and community groups and staffs events for employers and community groups, including weekends and evenings as needed. Performs health screening measures (such as body mass index) and reviews health screening results with participants (training is provided). Performs preliminary research and findings on industry trends and data pertinent to events, screenings and program activities. This role will support commercial client contracts in the Susquehanna (Williamsport) region as well as UPMC Employer Group health promotion functions and clinic intake.
Responsibilities:
- Provide factual information on current prices, policies, programs and services available to various target groups.
- Conduct fitness testing according to policies and procedures.
- Report program attendance for the completion of monthly statistical volume reports.
- Prescribe an appropriate exercise prescription based on each individual’s needs and abilities.
- Perform daily and weekly preventive maintenance on all equipment according to policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperative relationship with medical staff, co-workers, supervisors and others.
- Complete registration and enrollment on new members and class participants.
- Instruct members on proper techniques and concepts of all exercise components; supervise member workouts and conduct exercise classes for specific groups. Identify and correct unsafe conditions and practices related to exercise participation.
- Serve as a speaker for group presentations on wellness related topics.
- Document all testing results, progress and recommendations in member charts in a clear, concise and organized manner. Make appropriate referrals to client’s physician and other departments based on abnormal results or identified risks.
- Assist in the development and achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
- Interpret and explain assessment results and make appropriate recommendations for risk reductions and lifestyle improvements.
- Demonstrate efficient use of time, materials, equipment, supplies and available resources cost effectively.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of health education activities and special events.
