SAIC is seeking an Operations and Sustainment Lead Engineer to join our Avalon Platform Engineering & Sustainment team to help build and develop an Operations function within the Avalon program. This is a full-time job that can be worked any where within the U.S.
As a Lead, you will play a critical role in building a Platform Engineering and Sustainment Center of Excellence around our Avalon Platform Ecosystem. This position requires expertise in Platform Engineering, Operations Management, and Cloud Engineering. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, detail-oriented, motivated, empowered, comfortable with being uncomfortable, a coach, and a critical thinker.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of platform operations strategies within the Digital Innovation Platform Engineering organization, including operational management aspects such as capacity planning, performance monitoring, and incident response.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continually support the design, deploy, and management of cloud-based and hybrid-cloud environments across the Avalon Ecosystem.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize platform operations, service delivery, and customer satisfaction, leveraging data-driven insights and metrics.
- Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements in all platform operations activities, implementing robust security controls and conducting regular audits.
- Identify and mitigate risks, incidents, and problems through effective incident and problem management processes, driving root cause analysis and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement automation and orchestration opportunities to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and reduce manual effort.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies related to cloud-native technologies and operations management, applying relevant advancements to enhance platform operations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). In lieu of a degree, four additional years of experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 14 years of experience in Operations Management, including operational aspects such as capacity planning, performance monitoring, incident response, and problem management.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing platform operations and service delivery teams, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Strong self-directed and autonomous work ethic, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and challenging environment, adapting to changing business needs and priorities.
- Ability to coach and mentor team members, fostering their professional growth and promoting a high-performance culture.
- Strong experience in Platform Engineering, Operations Management, and Cloud Engineering, with a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies and services.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a data-driven and analytical approach to decision-making.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
- Proficiency in incident management, problem management, and change management processes, driving efficient and effective resolution of issues.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certifications in or around: Quality, DevOps, Security, Agile, Cloud
- Experience testing and supporting cloud applications.
- Familiarity of microservice architecture principles
- Experience with Application Lifecycle Management
- Experience in Software Development and the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle
- Exposure and experience with Amazon AWS or other Cloud provider.
