Dalton Animal Care is hiring for a Registered Veterinary Technician for a Lab Manager position.

Dalton, GA 30720

 

Compensation:  

$20-22/hr

 

Clinic Hours:  

M-F 8am-6pm

* NO WEEKENDS!*

 

This position requires 5 years of Licensed Veterinary Technician experience as well as 2 years of management experience.

 

Job Description: The Lab Manager is a member of the Hospital Support team responsible for providing the highest standards of care and welfare for in-house and outpatient animals in accordance with Mission Veterinary Partners protocols and practices, and to promote greater efficiency by relieving veterinarians of technical work and administrative detail. The Lab Manager must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician, confident leader and capable of guiding a team of Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Assistant team mates, as well as their own workload.

How you will make an impact:

· The Lead Veterinary Technician will maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.

· The Veterinary Technician will follow and enforce hospital policies set forth by the Practice Manager, Medical Lead, and MVP.

· The Veterinary Technician will assist with surgery and clinics for inpatient and outpatient animals.

· The Veterinary Technician allocate areas of responsibility to technicians and assistants, and ensure this is carried out fully and all records are kept up to date.

· The Veterinary Technician will assist with technician schedules and ensure they have the correct training for each area.

· The Veterinary Technician will ensure all new staff members receive a full induction and successful completion of the induction handbook in a timely fashion.

· The Veterinary Technician will assist with training of all new assistants and Registered Technicians.

· Maintains nursing/technician staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

· Educate clients and team members on products and medications sold including dietary products and answer questions regarding product purchase/use.

· In conjunction with the Practice Manager, adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and Risk assessments for all clinical areas in addition to maintaining the Practice Standards Scheme requirements.

· Ensure AAHA standards are followed.

· Assist Practice Manager in addressing negative feedback on NPS and celebrating positive feedback.

· Assist Practice Manager with scheduling of regular clinic meetings.

· Regularly review the efficiency and effectiveness of the clinic with the Practice Manager and Medical Lead.

· Ensure good stock control and rotation is implemented.

· Produce any KPIs’ or reports on request of Senior Management.

· Help set, track, and encourage new initiatives as per Practice Manger or MVP requests.

· Ensure that the hospital and its employees are compliant with federal and state animal health laws and regulations including OSHA, Radiation, state board requirements and DEA.

· Assist with ensuring good communication between all departments and team members.

· Ensure own licenses, knowledge, and skills are kept up to date.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of the Licensed Veterinary Technician:

 

· Must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician

· Veterinary Technician experience required – 5 or more years.

· Management experience preferred – 2 or more years.

· Must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from but not limited to laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills.

· Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.

· Knowledge of usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and ability to readily explain them to the clients.

· Knowledge of the common anesthesia and recovery states and ability to alert veterinarians when symptoms change or when concerns arise with hospitalized patients.

· Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature and recover a patient from anesthesia.

· The employee must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.

· The veterinary technician must be confident around pets.
