Our client manages the flow of electric power to Texas customers - representing 85 percent of the state's electric load and 75 percent of the Texas land area. As the independent system operator for the region, they also manage financial settlement for the competitive wholesale bulk-power market and administers customer switching for 6.5 million Texans in competitive choice areas. They are membership-based, nonprofit corporation, governed by a board of directors and subject to oversight by the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the Texas Legislature. Members include consumers, cooperatives, independent generators, independent power marketers, retail electric providers, investor-owned electric utilities (transmission and distribution providers), and municipal-owned electric utilities.
Job Summary
We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Market Operations Engineer. This position provides critical backup support for other activities within the Demand Integration Department. It is preferred that candidates have knowledge and experience working with data analysis pertaining to demand response.
Job Description
- Assist with the registration, modeling, qualification testing and event performance analysis for all Load Resources.
- Develop and maintain new evaluation and monitoring tools for the administration of various demand response services as well as Settlement Only Distribution Generators (SODGs).
- Assist both internal and external stakeholders concerning issues related to demand response in the wholesale market construct within the company Protocols.
- Help ensure consistency and stability of the market.
- Acquires the skills and knowledge to provide engineering and analytical support for the demand integration department, wholesale market and grid operations.
- Generates and maintains market reports per requests and protocols.
- Assists the management team and senior experts in providing technical assistance to PUCT, industry and stakeholder groups.
- Recommends, reviews and tests proposed changes to the company wholesale market systems and design.
- Under supervision, helps to ensure all demand integration related activities have been successfully completed per protocols and works closely with Market Participants to resolve issues concerning wholesale market and grid operations as it relates to demand response and SODGs.
Skills Required
- Minimum 3 years work experience (more than degree requirements stated above) in demand response and/or distributed generation preferred.
- Demonstrates proficient technical skills with common business applications such as SQL, EXCEL, or other tools for analyzing large data populations.
- It is preferred that candidates have a working knowledge of electrical power systems and/or DERs.
- Preferred experience facilitating revisions to Protocol and Other Binding Document language through internal processes, including project requirements, implementation, and testing.
- Preferred Performing Protocol, Other Binding Document, and general reporting audit functions.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline preferred or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields.
Additional Requirements
- It is expected that this individual will be onsite in Taylor minimum 1 day per work or more based on business needs. Must be in Texas.
