What You Will Do: The mission of the QE Manager is to provide leadership by ensuring Quality personnel are trained and equipped, and that systems are established and maintained, in order to repeatedly produce quality product that meet and exceed Customer expectations.
The QE Manager reports to the Director of Quality and Trade Compliance overseeing the personnel and systems that ensure conforming product is delivered through every step of the value stream process. This position will require strong interpersonal and communications skills as it will interact directly with customers, suppliers, and all levels of Control Systems leadership.
Primary Responsibilities: - Manage Quality Engineering staff that support product development, production, and Supplier Quality efforts
- Establish departmental metrics and goals in support of organizational strategic goals
- Communicate expectations with personnel by establishing individual annual performance goals and provide the leadership to ensure their success
- Improve competencies in classic RCA tools, such as Ishikawa Diagram, 5-Y, and Pareto charting methodologies
- Improve competencies in classic PC tools, such as SPC, Sampling plan, Gage R&R, and DOE methodologies
- Be a champion for our Quality Policy. Do it right the first time — measure, control, improve
- Foster and promote passion in advancing Lean, continuous improvement, and quality concepts
- Improve the efficacy and effectiveness of the corrective action system, primarily through the implementation by the QE staff
- Promote a “sense of urgency” environment with staff
- Maintain the MRB system, to include establishing efforts to reduce rejections overall
- Establish and maintain a close rapport with production and engineering management
- Lead cross-functional teams in problem solving and corrective action activities
- Work collaboratively with the Repair Station to reduce Warranty costs
- When required, interface with Customers to address elevated issues and concerns
- Prepare and present to various levels within the organization the status of Quality activities
What You Must Have: - Ability to develop personnel through mentoring and coaching, both formally and informally, and most importantly by example
- Versed at developing metrics and implementing actions that make improvements in those metrics
- Skilled in systematized approaches to corrective action, such as 7-step, 8D, Six Sigma
- Expert knowledge in the use and application of MS Excel
- Skilled in charting and flowcharting methodologies
- Practiced in the proper selection and application of SPC tools
- Comfortable in developing and conducting presentations with Power Point
- Strong communications skills, in both oral and written forms
- Comfortable in making decisions in a rapid paced, forward evolving environment
- Unquestionable commitment to, and ability to lead actions in, continuous improvement efforts
- Familiar with conflict resolution techniques
- Ability to independently make judgment determinations, particularly relating to product conformance, while elevating to Senior Management when prudent to do so
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing methodologies preferred
- Ability to be onsite minimum of 4 days a week Monday - Friday
Education and Previous Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other related discipline
- 5+ years of progressive experience working in a Quality capacity within aerospace industry preferred
- Greater than 3 years’ experience working in a Quality leadership capacity preferred
- ASQ certifications (CQE, CMQ/OE, etc.) a plus
- Must be a US Person
Salary Range Please note the typical hiring range is $120,000 - $180,000 annually. Job offers within the range are based on significant job qualifications and pay equity.
