Job Opportunity for a GM in the alloy wheel division:
The main purpose of the General Manager is to Increase management's effectiveness by performing the following duties:
- Recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining department managers
- Communicating values, strategies, and objectives to employees
- Assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Developing incentives
- Developing a climate for offering information and opinions
- Providing educational opportunities.
The GM further enhances the company's objectives by:
- Developing strategic plans by studying technological and financial opportunities; presenting assumptions; recommending objectives.
- Accomplishing subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements
- Allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid-course corrections.
- Coordinating efforts by establishing procurement, production, marketing, field, and technical services policies and practices and coordinating actions with the corporate staff.
- The GM will be instrumental in building the company image by collaborating with customers, government regulators, community organizations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices.
- Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

General Manager –Specific to AWRS
- Responsible for all activities in a Company fixed and mobile wheel refurbishing operation including recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining managers; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results; developing a positive climate for offering information and opinions; providing educational opportunities.
- Develops strategic plan by studying technological and financial opportunities; presenting assumptions; recommending processes to achieve Company goals. Accomplishes subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid-course corrections. Monitors and manages compliance with Company operating standards of effective operation and quality control.
- Coordinates the local operations with supply procurement, production capacity, sales and marketing, and technical service policies and practices; coordinating actions with corporate support staff.
Additional Descriptions of Duties:
- The AWRS General Manager (GM) oversees most or all the branch operations day to day activities, sales functions, marketing functions, route delivery functions, mobile tech functions, HR functions (in conjunction with corporate HR), financial and accounting functions (in conjunction with corporate accounting)
- GM is responsible for effective planning, delegating, coordinating, staffing, organizing, and decision making to attain budgeted revenue and operating income objectives for the market
- GM is responsible for communicating best practices and core values established by corporate office, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results and MBOs for all market personnel
- GM is recommending and developing incentives; developing a climate for offering information and opinions; providing educational opportunities for key personnel which includes all inside and outside sales staff, mobile techs, route drivers, reman staff, admin staff, accounting staff
- GM develops the local strategic plan to execute corporate vision and budgets for market operation by studying financial objectives and opportunities; presenting these assumptions and recommending objectives to all market personnel
- GM coordinates efforts with inside sales personnel, mobile technicians, route delivery personnel, outside sales personnel, operations personnel, and accounting personnel by establishing weekly meetings and reviewing procurement, production, marketing, sales, asset management and maintenance, AR, AP, MBOs and best practices; coordinating and discussing challenges, results, actions with corporate staff
- GM builds company image by collaborating with corporate office, customers, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices and adherence to corporate core values
- GM maintains quality service and results promised and promoted within corporate vision thru diligence follow up with the mobile technicians and remanufacturing personnel
- GM maintains on-going training and retraining of the company's repair technicians, both mobile and remanufacturing, on the proper wheel straightening processes to reduce liability risks
- GM ensures that a quality and safety check is performed on each wheel repaired and reconditioned in the reman plant by the plant floor supervisor prior to returning to the customer
- GM ensures Mobile technicians' compliance to standards outlined in company operations and training manuals for the proper paint processes for each repair specification (RQ 1,2,3) utilizing approved equipment and products to ensure our guaranteed quality and warranty
- GM ensures thru diligent follow up with mobile staff and remanufacturing staff compliance to all state and federal laws pertaining to OSHA and EPA standards and guidelines
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ year experience in the wheel repair or related trade such as automotive reconditioning or automotive service business
- 3+ years of prior management experience directing a minimum of 10+ blue collar workers within a similar trade (paint & body, mechanic workshop, reconditioning center, or related mobile trades, etc.)
- GM should be bilingual for certain markets. (Spanish/English
- Competent in working in a fast-paced environment with daily challenges that often require extra effort and hours to resolve customer service or related technical issues
- Competent with managing these workers to precise job descriptions and developing MBOs (Manage by Objectives) for all key positions within the organization
- Competent conducting ongoing reviews of the results and performance to the MBOs assigned
- Competent executing training programs designed by corporate for each new hire
- Competent in coaching and encouraging productivity through mentoring and training
- Competent in using e-mail (capable of proper spelling and grammar), Word, accounting software, Excel spread sheets, etc.
- Competent in managing a route delivery system and measuring productivity and efficiencies for mobile and reman routes
- Competent in overseeing the development and subsequent execution of budgets at the branch level for operations, sales both inside and out, finance, legal and HR
- Competent in understanding a P&L statement and balance sheet and have the competence to review, make suggestions, tweak for accuracy, etc.
- Competent in establishing maintenance schedules and corrective repairs for all company equipment and related assets
- Competent in establishing a follow up system to ensure customers are satisfied with the performance of the service be it reman or mobile
- Competent in developing and executing a sales/marketing plan developed to accomplish defined objectives with or without an outside salesman (In our smaller divisions, our GM may also be required to take on the role of business development)
- Competent in undertaking on-going reviews of both mobile and reman operations compliance to OSHA and EPA and related state and federal guidelines
