Media Relations Associate

Position Description
CGI Federal Inc., a wholly owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Inc., is seeking a media relations consultant to support growing program needs. As a member of CGI Federal’s Marketing and Communications team that supports leadership, account and strategic engagement teams, and other stakeholders, the media relations associate plays an important role in amplifying CGI’s brand and value proposition through drafting, reviewing and socializing press releases; identifying and placing earned media opportunities; and supporting the creation of leadership profiles. Reporting to Media & Analyst Relations Director, the associate works closely with Marketing Business Partners and social media and digital teams to ensure media positioning aligns with business needs. As a key contributor to the insights and data-driven organization, the media relations associate also plays a critical role in tracking media hits and generating metric reports shared with leadership. The candidate should be detail oriented, possess exceptional writing skills, and have the enthusiasm to participate in a high performing team.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Elevates CGI brand through the creation and promotion of external facing material and collateral such as press releases, executive profiles and social media.
• Collaborates with Marketing Business Partners and other internal stakeholders (social media and digital teams) in creating engaging, attention-getting pitches and social media posts.
• Keeps track of CGI Federal media mentions in the news and maintains a detailed lists of media hits.
• Reports out monthly media metrics with audience reach; and generates quarterly media reports with stats, trends and metrics for leadership.
• Helps promote CGI brand by forming and nurturing positive relationships with industry trade reporters.
• Influences CGI news and thought leadership coverage through proactive outreach to reporters in the industry, trade and top tier media.
• Supports the development and updates of process documentation of reoccurring media relations team activities.
• Partners with Global and commercial partners on cross-promotional media activities.
• Processes incoming internal stakeholder requests as they come.
• Other tasks as needed.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications (or related field)
• 2-5+ years of experience in-house or at an agency
• Team player with ability to multi-task, prioritize and re-prioritize
• Detail oriented, possess exceptional writing skills, and have the enthusiasm to participate in a high performing team.

Desired:
Knowledge in Cision or Meltwater and PRNewswire is a plus.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $49,400- $89,700.
