Job Description: Assistant Director of TRIO/Student Support Services Professional Non-Unit Position, Grant-funded Campus Location: Lynn & Danvers Campus, 4 days on site, 1 day remote (telework is subject to change based on the needs of the department and/or College) Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week (occasional evening and weekend hours) TRIO Grant Funded through August, 2025 SALARY: Anticipated salary range $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 plus fringe benefits. Actual salary is commensurate with experience and education. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Assistant Dean of Academic and Student Development for the administration and management of the TRIO/Student Support Services program, as legislated by the Higher Education Act and regulated by the Department of Education. This program provides educational support for traditionally under-resourced, underserved college students. The Assistant Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the Program, team, and the identification and selection of eligible students who have been accepted and/or enrolled at North Shore Community College (NSCC). This position implements a comprehensive program of academic support services for participating students, enhancing their potential for persistence and achievement in higher education, graduation, and transfer to 4-year colleges. The Assistant Director collaborates with faculty, staff, and community agencies regarding resources for program participants. Must be able to commute between Lynn and Danvers campuses for program-related activities and to supervise the program team. This individual must also be able to work independently in a virtual environment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Pursuant of the TRIO Grant, the department must maintain no less than 350 active participants. The Assistant Director supervises a team that is expected to provide service for no less than 350 actively enrolled NSCC TRIO students. The Assistant Director establishes, implements, and evaluates operational goals and objectives consistent with federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures with the Assistant Dean of Academic and Student Development.
- Supervises current TRIO staff on both Lynn and Danvers campuses and hires qualified staff consistent with the plan for employing personnel who have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the project's target population
- Oversees the identification and selection of eligible students for TRIO program participation
- Oversee and support TRIO staff with developing and implementing workshops, including by not limited to new student orientation, cultural events and college visits.
- Recruit & advise a caseload of TRIO students; leads and actively participates in creating an environment where learners feel valued, welcomed, and supported
- Assist TRIO/SSS participants with financial aid process
- Represent TRIO at college events such as orientations, new student acceptance nights, and other recruitment opportunities
- Assist with marketing of TRIO/SSS program and activities within the college including developing publications, such as flyers to advertise the program and activities; contribute to the TRIO web page; utilize Facebook and other social media to connect with potential and current participants
- Participate in the development of goals and objectives for the TRIO/SSS program as well as the institutional planning process.
- Assist the Assistant Dean of Academic and Student Development and the Grants Manager with compiling information for TRIO Annual Performance Report and other performance statistics.
- Support the Assistant Dean in establishing and maintaining proactive relationships with all NSCC offices, liaises with community agencies to advance the goals of the program
- Participate in staff development meetings, seminars, and/or workshops to keep current with changes and on-going institutional modifications
- Act as a TRIO/SSS representative to college communities and divisions as assigned to advocate and support TRIO student issues
- Assist with the execution of major division events such as Commencement
- Attend conferences, trainings, and webinars relevant to TRIO Student Support Services, such as TRIO Priority Trainings, MEOA conference, NEOA, and the SSS Professional Development Day.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Assistant Dean of Academic & Student Development
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Exercises supervision over TRIO/SSS professional staff and student leaders on both Lynn, Danvers campuses and remotely.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree required in Psychology, Business Administration, Counseling or other field related to area of assignment; with a minimum of 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
- Supervisory experience
- 3 to 5 years' experience in TRIO (or similar initiatives) or Advising
- Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations (specifically TRIO-eligible populations - first-generation, low-income, students with documented disabilities); along with knowledge of student development and assessment practices
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated understanding and ability to apply the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
- Demonstrate qualities of patience and empathy; respect for students of all genders, gender identities, cultural/ethnic backgrounds, ages, and abilities
- Knowledge and experience with data collection, analysis, and management. Experience with CRM software platforms and/or integrated software systems (Banner, COGNOS, Zogotech, Blumen). Computer proficiency in MS and Google Office Suite, remote meeting platforms/programs such as Zoom, etc.
- Ability to think critically and creatively; ability to take initiative, be a self-starter preferred
- Ability to evaluate, deduce, and/or assess data using established criteria
- Ability to commute to either campus for meetings and programs as required
- Must have the ability to work some evenings and weekends
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI background check as a condition of employment
Preferred Qualifications: - Bilingual in Spanish
- Master's Degree
- Community College Experience
- Must be comfortable serving the public face to face or remotely using technology and able to work effectively both independently and in a fast-paced environment.
