Job description

The Utah State University Libraries seeks a collaborative, innovative and user-centered librarian for the position of Online Learning Librarian. The Online Learning Librarian creates and provides support and guidance on the design and assessment of tutorials and other e-learning materials, working closely with colleagues at the main Logan campus and the USU statewide system. This position also engages with students and faculty as a member of a disciplinary liaison team.

The Online Learning Librarian will coordinate the libraries’ online learning initiatives and co-develop learning materials according to best practices for online instruction. Working with colleagues across the libraries, this position will assess and maintain online learning resources and tools, contribute to library-wide accessibility efforts, and work to continually improve the library’s online instructional materials.

 

Reporting to a unit head within the Student Success and User Experience section, the position is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty appointment. Support and mentorship are built into the tenure process. The estimated start date for the position is Summer 2024. Early career librarians are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

• ALA-accredited MLS, or international equivalent by August 2024
• Knowledge of or interest in instructional technologies to support online learning
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Commitment to the needs of students and adapting instruction to emerging expectations

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of current trends and issues in the methods and practice of teaching in e-learning and online environments.
• Understanding of issues related to developing and assessing e-learning materials and online instruction and delivering and assessing online library instruction
• Experience working in a library

Minimum of $55,000 plus excellent benefits

Employees typically work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.

Salary is starting at $55,000, plus excellent benefits including a 14.2% (starting at $7,810) annual retirement contribution. Utah State University offers a competitive benefits package which includes medical and dental, and 22 days/year vacation.
