Job description
ATCS is gearing up for our 2024 Summer Internship Program! We are looking for an Emergency Management Services Intern to join our team in our Herndon Headquarters.
Our internship program, spanning from May/June 2024 to August 2024, offers a dynamic full-time hybrid role that combines the best of both worlds. You'll have the opportunity to spend three days per week working closely with our talented team in our Herndon, VA office, while enjoying the flexibility of up to two remote workdays. Our work is in the field of disaster recovery, and projects that you would be involved in would incorporate the concepts of
mitigation and resilience, environmental engineering, water resources design, buildings and infrastructure, equity and diversity, and nature-based solutions . Individuals selected will work in a hybrid service (virtual and in office).
Duties: - Develop creative solutions for mitigating risks due to natural disasters
- Support long term recovery, including community disaster preparedness and response plans
- Assist in collecting, preparing, and analyzing data
- Collaborate effectively with team members, as well as federal, state, and local partners
- Project design, management and administrative support
- Perform any additional duties as assigned
Requirements: - Pursuing a B.S. in Emergency Management, Engineering, or fields related to the concepts listed above (>2 years of undergraduate courses)
- Previous internship experience preferred but not required
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
