Job description

The Admissions Recruiter is responsible for effectively managing the recruitment of qualified applicants for admissions to the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine. The recruiter will represent ICOM at both on and off-campus events across the Pacific North West and the United States. The activities will include scheduling speaking arrangements, personal contacts, special presentations, participation in graduate and health profession fairs, etc. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the recruiter will be responsible for prospect generation and follow up of the students encountered at the various recruiting events. The recruiter will counsel students as they apply to the program and assist with all inquiries about admissions and the application process. This position will require up to 85% travel.

• Instruct prospective students on the admission processes, through individual meetings, phone calls and email correspondences.
• Advising of students, to include information such as required prerequisites; minimum/competitive GPA and MCAT scores; explanation for letters of recommendation; types of professional experiences needed; how to become a strong applicant; as well as any additional needs.
• Set up campus visit opportunities with colleges & universities for career/graduate school fairs, classroom visits, and club information sessions to present the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Program (both in and out of state institutions), to include the arrangement of flight and hotel reservations for overnight and long-distance trips.
• Build relationships with college/university pre-health advisors and career counselors and keep an up-to-date contact list.
• Work with the Assistant Dean of Student Services and Director of Admissions in meeting the school’s recruitment strategy.
• Maintain communication with prospective students and advisors about recruitment opportunities and campus visits by providing relevant messaging content.
• Make decisions and correspond with the Director of Communication and Marketing, as to the best marketing strategies to pursue, to achieve the specified goals of the office.
• Participate in the Office of Student Services’ special events such as Accepted Students Day, Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, and Graduation.
• Organize and plan on-campus recruiting events, such as Visitation Days and Open Houses, geared toward undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
• Assist in the answering of phone calls to the Office of Students Services and direct or assist with questions and inquiries.
• Remain current on ICOM offerings, policies, and procedures, communicating those effectively to inquiring students.
• Attend national conferences to support personal development, such as NAAHP.
• Submit a monthly or biweekly report of activities and visits.
• Perform other duties as assigned; may require involvement in admissions processes beyond that required of other support staff members.

Requirements

• A team player who values collaboration, mutual support and team cohesion.
• Bachelors’ degree or higher and demonstrated experience in public communication for a minimum of 2 years, either through full-time employment, part-time roles, internships or volunteer positions.
• Previous experience in Osteopathic or Allopathic Medical College admissions, student services or sales and marketing experience is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively to individuals and groups through both oral and written channels.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail are essential.

• Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment including researching new ways of accomplishing tasks, participating in training sessions, and being a self-starter and a team player, and willingness to assist in other areas as needed.
