Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, has an immediate need for a Full-time, Program Manager II Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education The work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm and some weekends. This is a Non-Bargaining, Exempt, Grade 31 position. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, diversity, and inclusiveness. This position is currently eligible for telework 1 day a week. This eligibility is subject to change based on the needs of the unit.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Identify workforce needs and establish and maintain community partnerships to provide service and resources.
- Support apprenticeship programs and serve as a primary point of contact for employers and clients.
- Assist apprentices with program enrollment, conduct orientation for apprentices, and provide support for apprenticeship instructors.
- Schedule, assign, delegate, inspect and review work of assigned staff to ensure work is performed according to established standards.
- Provide support for courses in welding and computer repair/A+ Certification technician preparation. This includes purchasing lab equipment and supplies, course content, course and curriculum development, evaluate and order texts and software, scheduling/pricing courses, and assigning classrooms, instructor recruitment, training and evaluation.
- Marketing: Includes interacting with the public to clarify training alternatives, outreach and giving tours of the Gudelsky Institute and answering queries via phone/email.
- Evaluate courses/instructors/facilities/equipment. Investigate and resolve students and/or faculty requests or concerns.
- Conduct performance evaluations, formal and informal coaching and recommend disciplinary action.
- Conduct instructor recruitment/interviewing and make recommendations to hire; generate contract letters. Identify, develop and recommend professional development needs/opportunities and coordinate/conduct training.
- Price programs and negotiate contracts; submit program projections for annual budget.
- Meet with representatives of County businesses and organizations to assess needs, plan training, negotiate contracts and develop/maintain association and/or relationship.
- Represent WDCE and the Gudelsky Institute on the college-wide Commencement Committee, and the Commencement Sub-Committee chair meetings.
- Develop new customized training classes for external partners.
- Participate and attend apprenticeship Program Advisor Committee (PAC) meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, educational technology, computer science, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
- Five years of related experience including three years of program management/development experience.
- Training in communications, marketing, program management, leadership, writing, public speaking, project management, instructional design and/or teaching strategies.
- Knowledge of workforce development programs, management, best practices and emerging trends.
- Excellent leadership, presentation, organization and customer service skills, as well as the ability to lead, instruct, train, guide and motivate others.
- Knowledge of existing computing platforms used in business that are appropriate for the delivery of instruction in and outside of the classroom.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, project management software, familiarity with computer hardware and peripheral devices.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to balance the demands of educational programming with financial needs and goals.
- This position requires knowledge in industrial safety and health, expertise in various types of education (academic, industrial, or vocational), expertise in at least one of the following areas-machining, welding, computer repair, ability to communicate orally and verbally and get along with a wide spectrum of personalities (this is probably the most important quality), and a good knowledge of standard accounting/procurement practices.
- Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship .
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree is preferred
- Expertise in running a small technical business preferred.
Hiring Range $76,679 to $99,671 annually. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity. Please include a complete resume including all relevant and related work experience.
