Job Title: Production Shift Leader
Location: Columbia (Southeast)
Salary: $65,000 – $75,000
Shift Pattern: 2nd shift

We are working with a well-known engineering firm based outside of Columbia, SC. Manufacturer of steel products to a range of industries include Water, Pipework and Gas. They are looking to recruit a Production Shift Leader working on 2nd shift 4pm-2:30am (Mon-Fri) , the successful applicant will benefit from a salary ranging from $65,000 - $75,000 dependant on experience.
Duties and responsibilities as a Production Shift Leader:
- At the direction of the Department Superintendent, prepares daily operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications for various production crews
- Reviews department production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
- Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization. Formally reports to Maintenance on equipment issues in the form of emails and work requests for equipment repairs
- Trains and assists hourly employees as needed to ensure adequate quality and productivity
- Resolves employee issues and complaints or submits unresolved matters to Human Resources or Department Superintendent for further resolution
- At the discretion of the Department Superintendent, reviews work orders to estimate worker hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external needs
- Determines amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from purchasing department
- Confers with department crew operators to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from Superintendent
- Suggests changes to working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of production crew
- Reads customer specification and drawings to determine specifications for setting up pipe for production operations
- Oversee repairs or replacement of defective parts
Skills and experience required as a Production Shift Leader :
- Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before managers or groups of employees
- Must be able to read, understand and interpret pipe drawings and specification boundary sheets
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Must be able to compute ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs
- Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
- Must be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where possibly only limited standardization exists
- Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Must be able to operate computer-controlled panels, including reading and interpreting console indicators and gauges
The factory is easily commutable from the following regions Columbia, Arthurtown, Hopkins, Sandy Run, Gadsen, Eastover, Horell Hill and Weston
