Hydrosat is a venture-backed space data analytics company developing a new earth observation constellation and software to unlock the power of thermal infrared imagery. Our mission is to capture and deliver thermal infrared data, currently not available from other sources, to provide insights into crop health, drought and wildfire risk, industrial activity, and situational awareness to government and commercial customers.
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the development of software systems for Hydrosat’s earth observation constellation. The team is responsible for building the software and services to produce data products from our novel earth observation system and deliver them to customers. This role will appeal to candidates looking to use their engineering skills to impact the world in agriculture, climate, and public safety monitoring applications. The right candidate will be endlessly fascinated by technologies in cloud computing, photography, science, and space.
What You’ll Do
- Support the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of cloud computing infrastructure for processing data from an advanced earth observation satellite constellation
- Support a team of software engineers and scientists producing scientific data products from raw, low-level data from satellites
- Design systems with an eye for long-term scalability
- Ensure adherence to customer security requirements
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- 5+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable, production systems in AWS, Google Cloud or Azure
- Experience with event driven, serverless architectures such as AWS Lambda
- Experience building and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools (AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience with ElasticSearch or Amazon OpenSearch at high scale
- Strong knowledge of modern Python
- Strong team player with proven ability to take ownership and drive execution
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver capability to users
- Strong first principles thinking and decision making
- A passion for earth observation and its applications

- Experience with imaging system calibration and performance characterization
Nice-to-Haves
